FAQ

How long can a car cover last?

The stated service life of mainstream TPU car wraps is 5–10 years, though the actual lifespan depends on the film’s quality, parking conditions, and routine maintenance.

What should I do if there’s damage? Can it be repaired locally?

Yes, that’s possible. For minor membrane damage, you can replace just the affected panel locally—this is far more cost-effective than re‑covering the entire vehicle and doesn’t affect other areas.

Will tearing it off damage the car’s paint or leave any adhesive residue?

When applied using proper installation and removal techniques, quality films will not damage the factory‑original paint. However, low‑quality films or improperly selected adhesives may leave adhesive residue or even peel off the paint surface when exposed to high temperatures.

Will car covers turn yellow?

Top-grade aliphatic TPU with a dense coating exhibits minimal yellowing over 5 to 10 years under normal care. However, inferior substrates or prolonged exposure to sunlight without proper maintenance can significantly increase the risk of yellowing.

Can the sun‑fade marks on a car cover be removed?

High-quality TPU coatings feature a self‑healing function: minor surface scratches can disappear on their own when exposed to sunlight, hot water, or heat. However, once the coating is completely worn away, it cannot be restored.

What are the mainstream materials used for paint protection film, and how do they differ?

TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane): excellent toughness, heat‑recovery capability, and yellowing resistance; currently the mainstream choice for high‑end applications.

TPH: Similar to PVC in terms of modification, it exhibits a certain degree of flexibility, but its weather resistance and repairability are relatively poor.

PVC: Rigid film; low cost, prone to yellowing and brittleness, may leave adhesive residue when removed, and has been gradually phased out.

What aspects does a paint protection film primarily protect against?

  • Pebbles splashing, minor scrapes
  • Chemical corrosion caused by acid rain, bird droppings, insect carcasses, tree sap, and the like.
  • Car wash scratches, sunspots
  • Ultraviolet-induced oxidation and fading of the paint finish

What is a paint protection film?

Paint protection film (commonly known as “invisible car wrap”) is a high-performance polyurethane film that adheres directly to the vehicle’s paint surface, providing physical barrier protection against external damage and preserving the factory‑original finish.
